I have a ficlet collection about the Darkling Lords on AO3, but the problem is that each chapter is a stand alone story. I didn't think of making into an actual collection or even a series at the time. The collection is called Beyond the Haze and each chapter has its own title. I had a lot of fun writing the Darkling Lords and trying to write them as three dimensional characters to some degree. My favorite chapters are three (The Anxiety of Flight), five (The Jealous Heart) and eight (The Reptile in the Freezing Woods). So be ready for all eleven chapters coming your way, and hopefully I don't clog anyone's reading page in the process. So just a heads up.

Pairings: Cravex & Mortdred; Cravex/Mortdred

Word Count: 596

Summary: "When I woke up, I was a Phylot."

Cravex finds himself trapped in an abandoned zoo that leads to the Lost Shrine. Unable to transform back into his human form, he sees that the other knights and lords have met the same fate. Infuriated, he develops an idea. As he attempts to make his escape, he can't help but wonder to himself; why does it feel like he might be forgetting someone?

Author's Note: I want to give a huge thank you to The-06 on Tumblr for beta reading the story. Without her, I don't think I would ever finish it.

This ficlet takes place during the "The Trail of the Three Wizards" episode, somewhere about halfway through the second act.

Without further ado, enjoy!

Has it been four years since I'd written this? Man, time does fly. So, I mainly talked about why I liked the Star/Marvel comic interpretation of Lexor more than the cartoon's. Despite it being six issues long -and being cancelled half way through a four-part storyline-, I'm impressed that the writers decided to leave some room for Lexor to grow as a character; we can see where he can improve and/or becoming worse.

I have been pondering on a fanmade third-part of the cancelled storyline where Lexor and Mortdred are teamed up to outsmart Ectar and Witterquick to obtain the Fire Crystal. I also have a headcanon for Lexor's kingdom having the crystal, and because of it they're the best place to get armor, weapons, and other items because it's made fast because of the amplified fire and heat.

You can read it here on AO3 or go under the cut if you like!

This piece of fanart was posted back in 2021 on Pillowfort, and I wanted an excuse to use that new white gel pen I bought. Surprisingly, I still like it! :D

Cross posting from Pillowfort; I made this moodboard over three years ago. I still like how it came out, and I would like to get back into some day.

So in Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, there are moments where Mortdred shows impressive feats of strength. Seriously, he's pretty damn strong from these two episodes here and here. I like to headcanon that the other strong guys keep freaking out a little whenever Mortdred does the same thing that they can do, if not the task itself has more weight to it. Also, Mortdred can totally carry Cravex bridal style -full armor, no less- and it's like carrying a watermelon around for him.

I got to re-draw this piece one of these days.

Mortdred is one of those characters where the character gag should have been used sparingly or kicked to the curb never to be seen again. I wrote an essay discussing how much of a hindrance the "lol, he's a sycophant!" gag becomes in the cartoon. When in the comics, there's a glimpse of it being more than a joke; where it's more of an examination of his character and why he does the things that he does. Sadly, in the comics were cancelled and so that idea will never be expanded upon.

Well, here's the AO3 link, here, or you can read it down below, too.

Okay, I've been trying to find that old shipping thread from that paradigm-city archived forums, and I for the life of me can't find it. If I do find it I'll update this journal (heck, I was meaning to update my PF post about it, as well).

UPDATE: I finally found the thread in question! Here's the link to the archived forums to take a look.

Right, so, in the hardest to find thread was about shipping with The Big O characters, and I was surprised that one person could come up with a small hand full for Schwarzwald of all characters. Man, 2000's shipping culture was its own dumpster fire...

What really got my attention was this one pairing: Schwarzwald/Beck. Yes, the same Schwarzwald and the same Beck. When I first saw this my first thought was that the only thing in common was their distaste toward Roger. I discussed this with my brother and we bounced some ideas around, and we found that with these two together it would be filled with misadventures and hi-jinks that it reaches dangerously close to Sam and Max levels of absurdity.

I'm actually tempted to finish this one fanfic about them bumping into each one day and seeing where those two take us. I was thinking of some AU with the manga with the Gigadeus for the fun of it and seeing what happens from there. But first, I have to finish my Visionaries hanahaki disease fanfic before going back to that.

Ah, the very first piece of meta I've posted on AO3 and the path for the Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light getting some tags wrangled up. Personally, some of it felt like I was stretching at times but I genuinely thought there was a potential in their dynamic/relationship. I'm a fan odd-ball pairings in general; two vastly different personalities somehow making it work is a classic.

I do have a piece of meta about another odd-ball pair, but that's mainly a ship manifesto for a different cartoon and I don't want to spam my journal.

Anyway, you can read it on AO3, here, or down below if you like.

I posted this back in June 18th, 2020 for the March Meta Matters Challenge along with Meta Manifesto 2020 Fest. I'm still proud of it and I find myself re-reading it to this day.

I wanted to write about my favorite Darkling Lord, Cravex, because he has many (potential) layers to his character than most fans will ever talk about or even explore in fanfiction. In essences, I wanted to share what I thought of him and maybe someone felt the same way that I do.

You can read it on AO3, here, or down below.
